Looking to get Back on Track

The Bucs schedule doesn’t get any easier so they won’t get to dwell on their tough loss last week to Atlanta for very long.  Up next, the Bucs travel to Mile High to take on the impressive Denver Broncos.  Denver has been scorching hot of late, winning their last 6 games.  Each of those wins have come by at least 7 points.  This isn’t like the Falcons who have played tight games, the Broncos are typically beating their opponents handily.  Tampa Bay badly needs to win this game, but it won’t be an easy task.

Denver obviously features Peyton Manning.  The future Hall of Famer is having another MVP type season.  He has over 3200 yards already and 26 touchdowns on the season.  His top target, Demaryius Thomas, is having his biggest season by far.  He has already eclipsed the 1000 yard mark on the year.  The deep threat is a serious concern for Tampa who is ravaged in their secondary.  The running game for Denver is a bit more of a mystery.  Last week it was Knowshown Moreno who started after Willis McGahee injured his knee.  Ronnie Hillman figures to be a big factor as well.  I doubt Denver relies on the run though considering Tampa has the top ranked run defense and last ranked passing defense.  The key to this game will be stopping Manning and his passing attack.

The Denver defense is also quite fierce.  They rank in the top 10 in both the pass and the run, so there really isn’t a weak point to dial in on.  The Bucs offense has been superb of late, but they have fared well against defenses not at this level.  This is a game Freeman and Martin need to step up and prove they are for real.  If they can have success against a solid Bronco’s defense, a lot more people will talk about the playoffs for Tampa Bay.
