With every bit of good news for the Bucs, it always seems to be followed with bad news. This time, Tampa takes another major hit to their interior line. They already lost Pro Bowl Guard Davin Joseph for the season, but now they lose All Pro Guard Carl Nicks for the season with a toe injury. This is another major blow to a Tampa offense that was just starting to get on a roll. Doug Martin was playing his best football all year, but you have to imagine he could take a step back without two top notch guards.
In cased you missed it, Eric Wright was suspended for violating the leagues policy on performance enhancing drugs. He, as well as Talib, was using Adderall, which is used to improve your focus. A bit concerning considering the Bucs two top corners are both now suspended for the same charge, reportedly. This is another blow to Tampa which seem to be coming at all angles at this point. To make things worse, he is also dealing with an Achilles injury.
Finally, as I have speculated before, LaGarrette Blount may be on the trading block. The oft used RB is of little value for Tampa, but could fetch at least a late round draft pick from a contending team. He is attractive to teams looking for a proven back with out the huge contract of guys like DeAngelo Williams and Steven Jackson. I don’t think it is likely he is traded, considering the NFL trade deadline rarely includes big deals, but it is something to keep an eye on as it approaches.
