There is no doubt that Kansas City is a team in turmoil.  That doesn’t mean they don’t have a ton of talent.  In my preview, I stated that Tampa Bay should rely on their running game to win this one because the Chiefs have a solid secondary.  Instead, Josh Freeman had one of his best games ever with 328 yards in the air and 3 scores.  In fact, the whole offense exploded in this game and simply over matched the Chiefs D.  Doug Martin had 76 yards on 13 carries and Blount added 58 and a TD.  Mike Williams was the star receiver with 113 yards and a TD.  62 of those yards came on one play.  KC may have lost is completely at this point, but that doesn’t discount the performance of this offense.

The defense also played well, especially in slowing down Jamaal Charles.  The star RB had only 40 yards on the ground after torching the league the last few weeks.  He only took the ball 12 times, which is surprising, but TB forced them to the air with an early lead.  Brady Quinn was also miserable at passing the ball.  He could manage just 4.7 yards an attempt, and he attempted the pass 38 times.  He completed just 22 times for 180 yards.  He didn’t threw a single TD, but did manage two interceptions.  It wasn’t pretty for Quinn, but he has never really impressed in the league.  If anything, this gives Chiefs fans a reason to stop calling for the abysmal second string QB.

Tampa Bay won a game against a pretty bad team, but until today they have also been a pretty bad team.  If they want to be successful in the league, these are the games they have to win, and they did so today, in commanding fashion.  They need to take this win and work off of it.  They will have a struggling Saints team off a bye next week.  New Orleans is coming off their first win of the season, but besides that have been miserable. Still, it will be a tough game, but a game Tampa can win.
